Minett Biosphere Escape Games

Discover the Minett Biosphere with two exciting Escape Games

Games to preserve the cultural and natural heritage: The new escape games invite young people from 10 to 14 years old to live a unique adventure in the nature of the Minett and to discover the history of Luxembourg’s only biosphere reserve in a playful way.

Interactive adventures

The Minett UNESCO Biosphere, known for its unique landscape and its rich industrial past, offers two exciting outdoor escape games. They were developed in close collaboration with NatureEcho and Luth Médiations, a company specialising in the development of tourist sites, and four primary school classes from the towns of Dudelange, Esch-Alzette, Sanem and Schifflange. Thanks to the scientific expertise of local biologists, geologists and historians, the games offer exciting experiences that promise fun and education for pupils (and adults) alike.

Aims and materials of the games

The aim of the Escape Games is to promote environmental education through interactive experiences and to teach players about biodiversity and the relationship between man and nature.

The stories of the games – packaged in backpacks made from old advertising banners provided by the City of Differdange, the Municipality of Pétange and the photographer Jessica Theis, and processed in the workshops of Cooperations in Wiltz – are specifically designed for pupils aged 10 to 14, but can also be played by older teenagers.

How to play the Escape Games?

Both games cover a distance of two to three kilometres. They take between four and five hours to complete. These interactive tours offer a valuable opportunity to discover two of the most exciting nature reserves in the Minett UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and to understand why it is so important to protect and conserve these landscapes created by open-cast mining between 1950 and 1978.

We are happy to make these exciting escape games available to all primary 4 classes, scout groups and youth centres. If you would like to play either escape game, please email us at minell@minett-biosphere.com.

The escape games Die Zeitreisenden” and Die Rebellion der Nymphen were developed as part of our MiNELL – Minett Natur an Ëmwelt Léier Lab, which is financially supported by the National Research Fund Luxembourg (FNR).
