MINETT BIOSPHERE ESCAPE GAMES
Discover the Minett Biosphere with two exciting Escape Games
for groups of young people
aged 10 to 14.
The Minett UNESCO Biosphere, known for its unique landscape and rich industrial history, offers two exciting outdoor escape games.
These games were developed in close collaboration with NatureEcho, Luth Médiations, and four primary school classes from the municipalities of Dudelange, Esch-sur-Alzette, Sanem, and Schifflange.
Thanks to the expertise of local biologists, geologists, and historians, the games provide a fascinating experience that is both fun and educational – for children/teenagers and adults alike.
Aims and game materials
The escape games allow teams to playfully explore the secrets of biodiversity, geology, and industrial history in the nature reserves of Giele Botter and Haard.
The game materials are stored in backpacks made from old advertising banners provided by the City of Differdange, the Municipality of Pétange, and the photographer Jessica Theis. These were crafted into backpacks in the workshops of Cooperations in Wiltz.
Where and how are the escape games played?
The games take place in the nature reserves of “Giele Botter” and “Haard.” They cover distances of two to three kilometers and last about four hours. They are suitable for groups aged 10 and above. One backpack escape game is designed for a group of 8–10 children/teenagers. For larger groups, participants will receive multiple backpacks.
The activity is not accompanied by an external person, but takes place under the supervision of the youth worker/teacher. Each group must have an accompanying person to ensure that nobody gets lost and that the game runs smoothly. The accompanying persons will receive the game instructions, the GPS data and the solutions when they collect their rucksacks at the Naturschoul Lasauvage or in the municipality of Dudelange.
To progress in the game and uncover the secrets, the puzzles must be solved together. This requires teamwork, observation, and problem-solving skills from all team members. The game is cooperative: all participants must work together to advance and reach the goal. No prior knowledge is required – anyone can join. The game is linear, meaning the puzzles must be solved in a specific order to complete the game.
