Spring in our biosphere

When nature awakens, there is nothing better than spending a few hours in the fresh air. At the Minett UNESCO Biosphere, you can combine this pleasure with discovering the wonderful nature that has been created over the last 50 years on the site of former open-cast mines. Whatever the weather, rain or sunshine, there is plenty to discover.

None of the six nature reserves that were designated to form the core of our 2020 biosphere reserve looks the same today as it did at the end of the 1970s. Nature has reclaimed these industrial Martian landscapes and, over the years, has created an exceptional biodiversity that is unique in Luxembourg.

In order to protect and preserve this biodiversity, the Nature and Forest Agency (ANF) has launched a number of different programmes to ensure the sustainable management of our (still young) natural heritage.

If you have some time in the next few days, take a leisurely stroll through the nature reserves in the south of Luxembourg. The Minett Trail passes through all six core zones of the Biosphere Reserve.
