GREEN HEAT

Heat pumps within everyone’s reach

Our Minett Biosphere, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, is actively committed to the sustainable development of the region while promoting its unique natural and industrial heritage. In this context, strengthening the energy resilience of our region and reducing dependence on fossil fuels are priorities, particularly to contribute to the decarbonisation of our society.

To decarbonise the energy sector, the government has introduced several subsidies to help citizens finance their projects. In the area of domestic heating, the adoption of low-carbon technologies, such as heat pumps, is a concrete solution to which every citizen can contribute. While subsidies for fossil fuels (gas and oil) are gradually being phased out and the CO2 tax will continue to increase in the coming years, green technologies (such as heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, etc.) are increasingly being subsidised. In fact, with the strong support of the government and local authorities, these projects now benefit from advantageous financing that can cover up to 100% of the costs, creating a unique opportunity for citizens.

This page highlights the advantages of a heat pump and summarises the subsidies available (at the time of publication) for owners of existing detached houses in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who wish to install an air-to-water heat pump.
