Naturlab: Record biodiversity

MiNELL workshop: Nature Takes Over

The weather was fine yesterday morning for a Naturlab workshop. The Naturlab is part of the MiNELL project, which is supported by the National Research Fund. Together with botanist Laura Daco from the National Museum of Natural History, we explored the Haard near Dudelange.

The aim was to capture and understand the different stages of ecological succession in the former open-cast mines. An important aspect of this workshop was to actively discover the biodiversity of the Haard site, the largest core area of the Minett UNESCO Biosphere, and to understand the stages of ecological recovery after the end of mining activity.

With the help of identification guides and other materials, the participants were able to identify plants themselves at predefined sites and gain a better understanding of the natural wealth of the Minett.

ANOTHER DATE

For those who could not attend this Sunday, we are offering the same workshop again on Sunday 5 June 2022 (Whitsun).

You can register here.
