At the beginning of October, the Escape Games of the Minett UNESCO Biosphere were presented in Dudelange.
These two outdoor treasure hunts are specially designed for young people aged between 10 and 13 and encourage curiosity and environmental awareness. By solving puzzles and tasks, the children acquire new knowledge about the industrial heritage, the local geology and the biodiversity of the former open-cast mining areas in the south of Luxembourg in a playful and creative way.
During a day trip to the Haard or Giele Botter nature reserves, which are also core areas of our biosphere, young people can actively acquire knowledge and skills related to Luxembourg’s only biosphere reserve under the guidance of their teachers.
The materials for both games are transported in practical backpacks made from recycled advertising banners. These were generously donated by the photographer Jess Theis, the city of Differdange and the municipality of Pétange. They were transformed into backpacks in the workshops of Cooperations in Wiltz.
The process of transforming an advertising banner into a backpack for an outdoor escape game was documented by the municipality of Pétange in a video report for their municipal channel RPL TV.
