Minett Mash-Up (24) – Philippe Ernzer X 1535° Creative Hub

How a passion became a profession

Although this year’s Minett Mash-Up is all about industrial culture, the theme plays a secondary role in this episode. After two episodes in Germany and Belgium, we are back in the Minett, stopping off in Differdange.

The first private weather service in Luxembourg has recently set up its office at 1535°, the “creative hub” of Differdange.

Our “Minett-Location” of the month: 1535° – Creative Hub

Today, 1535° is a creative hub where young artists and start-ups can rent the space they need to launch their careers. In addition to traditional offices, there are rehearsal rooms for bands and a full recording studio, as well as a hall that can be used as a film studio. The employment initiative “CIGL Déifferdeng” and the editorial office of the free newspaper “L’Essentiel” have their offices at 1535°. There are also two catering establishments, a restaurant and a café.

Before the construction of the Differdange bypass, the present 1535° was part of the Differdange steelworks. Once this part of the site was isolated, the town council took over the old workshops, which were no longer needed for the steel production process of the third largest city in the country, and gradually converted them. The old “Schräinerei” (building A), the “Zilleschapp” (building B) and the “Kesselbetrib” (building C) have become a unique “Creative Hub” in Luxembourg.

Our guest: Philippe Ernzer

Philippe Ernzer, born in 1998, is the founder of the private Luxembourgish weather service “Météo Boulaide”. Philippe has been interested in weather and meteorology since childhood. After leaving school, he has devoted himself entirely to setting up his own company and weather service.

What started as a hobby has over the years made Philippe a well-known figure on social networks and then in the Luxembourgish media. Today, he regularly presents a chronicle on “Radio 100,7” and provides daily weather forecasts for the “Tageblatt” newspaper.

How Philippe turned his hobby into a career is the main subject of this month’s Minett Mash-Up. The episode also discusses the challenges he has faced, the goals this young entrepreneur has for the future of his weather service, and what kind of cloud Philippe would like to be if he could be a cloud.
