Despite the rain, a motivated group gathered on Saturday morning to learn about wild herbs and plants in and from our forests.

As part of the MiNELL nature laboratory, herbalist Christiane Laures led the participants on a walk through the forest, pointing out and explaining a whole range of edible plants. With the permission of the forester in charge, the participants were also able to collect them.

After the explanations in the forest, a number of delicious dishes were prepared from the plants found by the 15 or so participants. The “Bësch schmaachen” menu was as follows Rowan berry chutney, wild herb pesto, potato pancakes with wild herbs and wild carrot paste.

The recipes were prepared and cooked by different groups and in the end everyone was able to taste and enjoy the different dishes.
