During her ten-week internship, Marie Alisée Mathevet created a digital story map for her master’s thesis as part of her History degree.
This map retraces the evolution of the largest core zone of the Minett UNESCO Biosphere, the Haard-Hesselsbierg-Staebierg nature reserve, from an open-cast mine where Minett was extracted to a hotspot for biodiversity and species diversity. In addition to this transformation, the story map also highlights the importance of the mines and the iron industry for the municipalities of Dudelange, Kayl-Tétange and Rumelange, which border this core zone of our biosphere.
