Yesterday, in Dudelange, we presented the two escape games developed in the spring with the help of four school classes from Sanem, Esch, Dudelange and Schifflange.
With these interactive games, young people aged between 10 and 13 will be able to discover the old open-cast mining areas as a class or in groups and learn about the biodiversity, geology and industrial past of these protected areas in a playful way.

For the presentation of the two escape games, we invited two of the four classes to the Haard nature reserve, where, after a short introduction, the pupils had a great time trying them out.
The development of the games did not only involve primary school classes from four of the eleven member municipalities of the Minett UNESCO Biosphere. For the gameplay and implementation of the games, we were able to draw on the experience of two French companies, Luth Médiations and NatureEcho. Luth Médiations specialises in the development of assessments of natural sites for tourism, while NatureEcho focuses on the development of gameplay for environmental education games.
The two German-language escape games will soon be made available to youth groups in backpacks sewn in the workshops of Cooperations in Wiltz. The recycled material used for the backpacks consists of old advertising banners generously provided by photographer Jessica Theis, the city of Differdange and the municipality of Pétange.
The two escape games can now be borrowed directly from the Minett UNESCO Biosphere. The game “Die Zeitreisenden” takes place in the nature reserve “Giele Botter” between Pétange and Differdange, while “Die Rebellion der Nymphens” takes place in the core zone of the biosphere “Haard” on the hills above the city of Dudelange.
