In our series introducing you to the individual experts who will be present at the Minett Beyouthsphere Youth Forum on the 23rd and 24th of April in Lasauvage, we present to you our second instalment: Sören Salvatore.
In the tree hut like offices of natur&ëmwelt in Kockelsheuer, Luxembourg, you may stumble across a certain Sören Salvatore. We are excited to announce that Sören is another one of our experts to join our participants at the Beyouthsphere Youth Forum.
Ornithologist by coincidence
Since completing a brief internship in 2021, Sören prides himself in calling natur&ëmwelt’s ‘Haus vun der Natur’ his new professional home. And as a self-pronounced ‘accidental’ ornithologist and environmental enthusiast, he certainly fits right in! Sören currently coordinates natur&ëmwelt’s COL (Centrale Ornithologique du Luxembourg) Urban Birds project, kicking off in the first half of 2022. In this project, Sören and his colleagues aim to increase the habitability of local bird species in urban landscapes by encouraging the domestic incorporation of bird hutches at the community level. The ultimate aim of the project being to standardise the inclusion of bird friendly infrastructure into the future building plans of engineers and architects.
Photography and Volunteering
Aside from his work at natur&ëmwelt, Sören is also actively involved as a Freelance Wildlife Photographer (check out the new ‘Neighbour’ magazine!) and as an Outreach Officer for Odyssea, a volunteer based marine research organisation.
Sören has always been a fan of animals and nature and so it was the culmination of his ecology studies at the University of Kaiserslautern, his volunteering in the Scouts and his previous work as a SICONA Nature Guide that bridged the gap to his profession today!
