From 390 kg to 1 kg of waste per year: the incredible journey of the (Almost) Zero Waste Family
After 20 years working for socio-cultural, environmental and humanitarian NGOs, Jérémie Pichon came to a bitter realisation: our system, built on overconsumption, is devastating — for both people and the planet.
A bold family challenge
In 2014, Jérémie and his family decided to take action. Their challenge? To embark on a Zero Waste journey. The result is astonishing: in just three years, they went from 390 kg of annual waste to… 1 kg. A single jar per year! But beyond the numbers, they discovered an entirely new way of living.
From this adventure came a book that has become a reference: Famille « presque » Zéro Déchet – Ze Guide (The Almost Zero Waste Family – Ze Guide), illustrated with humour and warmth by his wife, Bénédicte Moret. Since then, their blog famillezerodechet.com has inspired thousands of families around the world.
An inspiring and humorous conference
During this conference, Jérémie Pichon shares the behind-the-scenes story of their transformation with lightness and authenticity. Far from moralising speeches, he highlights the enormous and unexpected benefits of such a radical change.
By eliminating their bin, this family actually took on the entire system — to create a sustainable, simple and happy way of life. A true “happy sobriety” accessible to all.
