For the first summer episode of our Minett Mash Up podcast, we travelled this time to the municipality of Mondercange, where the episode was recorded outdoors in Park Molter. In this episode, we don’t just explore new infrastructures and upcoming projects of the municipality, but also get to know our two guests better. This time, the focus is on active mobility, as well as the upcoming high-speed tram project that is planned to cross through Mondercange.
Our “Minett-Location” of the month: Park Molter
We met our guests at Park Molter. This important infrastructure measure, realized during the 2010s, was expanded between 2019 and 2023 with the active participation of Mondercange residents into a true gem, now serving as an oasis of calm in the heart of the village. After the renovation, Park Molter quickly became a meeting point for young and old, offering everyone a chance to take a break from everyday life.
Our guests: Jeannot Fürpass & Anouk Boever-Thill
The two guests in this episode are Jeannot Fürpass, Mayor of Mondercange, and Anouk Boever-Thill, former President of PRO-SUD and current member of the PRO-SUD board.
With the mayor, we discuss the major projects of the municipality: the extension of bicycle paths, the high-speed tram from Luxembourg City to Belval (with over 4 km crossing Mondercange), and the large solar park project taking shape on the former waste heap (Crassier) of Mondercange.
Anouk Boever-Thill looks back on her eight years in community politics, tells us why she’s stepping back from active politics, and gives insights into her current professional challenges, having switched careers a few years ago to enter the teaching profession.
Other topics include the Foetz activity zone – one of the largest and oldest in Luxembourg – and the Dumontshaff nature reserve, which delights visitors with its water buffalo and storks.
