Dorothee Liebscher
Open Fragments
Datiert
The exhibition Open Fragments marks Dorothee Liebscher´s (*1987, Freiberg, Germany) first solo show in Luxembourg. Following numerous exhibitions in Germany and most recently at The Drents Museum, Netherlands, VGalerie is delighted to present the artist´s latest works .
After completing her studies in Leipzig. at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, .she has been living and working there as a professional artist.
In her artistic work, Dorothee Liebscher focuses on the idea of architectural decontextualization, reflecting on space and time. The calm but unstoppable force of nature interferes and disrupts the severity of structures, which are then redefined. The artist portrays a scenery where the boundary between reality and fiction is blurred.
As a result, her architectural compositions appear deconstructed and abandoned, arousing a sense of curiosity and tension among viewers. 'I consider my works not only as representations, they are reflections on order and chaos, stability and change. They invite the viewer to question and rethink their perception of space and time, of existence and impermanence.' Her creative process starts with an intuitive arrangement of colours and forms, creating a balance between precision and lightness. The paintings, rendered in pastel tones, partly combined with vibrant neon colours, create a unique and distinctive visual atmosphere.
