By becoming a biosphere reserve, the South region now benefits from a particularly favourable framework to develop and support concrete initiatives in the promotion of local products and sustainable food.

PRO-SUD is therefore working with the Luxembourg Nature Parks and the municipality of Käerjeng to organise AU GOÛT DU TERROIR, which will take place from 18 to 20 March 2022 in Bascharage. This large market of local products, supported by Esch2022, will be an opportunity to promote environmentally friendly producers and processors, in particular those from the MINETT UNESCO BIOSPHERE.
In addition, the results of the survey on consumer demand for local food products, conducted in October 2020 and March 2021 in our region, will be made public in the autumn.
Finally, the mapping of fruit trees in the 11 municipalities of the biosphere reserve is underway. It will be used by associations that will organise free fruit harvests during the fruit seasons to fight against the waste of these local quality foods.
