Next Sunday we will launch the 2025 season of activities for MiNELL – Minett Natur- an Ëmwelt LéierLab. The first workshop is with herbalist Christiane Laures and is called “De Bësch schmaachen”.
This workshop will focus on gathering herbs and plants from the Ellergronn forest, which can be found as early as February, and transforming them into a delicious menu together.
Ahead of the workshop, we asked her a few questions about herself and her profession.
3 questions to Christiane Laures
Minett UNESCO Biosphere: What is a herbalist?
Christiane Laures: A herbalist is someone who takes people out into nature and shows them that not everything is just a weed and that these plants can be used to make food or ointments.
MUB: Which wild plant is your favourite?
CL: At the moment it’s bittercress (Cardamine flexuosa). It tastes fantastic, just like watercress, and I love it. It’s an amazing immune booster that you can eat every day.
MUB: What can people expect from your workshop?
CL: I’ll broing some wonderful wild herbs. We take people out into nature, gather wild herbs and then cook them in the kitchen to create a really delicious menu.
3 dates throughout the year
In 2025 we will run the Tasting the Forest workshop three times. The first session, focusing on spring, will take place on Sunday 23 February. The summer edition of this workshop will take place on Sunday 20 July, and we’ll invite you to discover the flavours of the forest in autumn on Sunday 26 October.
Registration is now open for all three sessions. “Tasting the forest”, like all the other workshops of the MiNELL – Minett Nature and Environment LéierLab, is free of charge and you can find the full schedule in our calendar.
